THANK YOU VERY MUCH
The world and universal academy foundation want to seize this opportunity to thank all the writers and artists of the world who had the courage to participate in our world competition of creative writing and arts.
"The most important thing is not to win, but the participation" said the baron Pierre de Coubertin (the restorer of the modern Olympic Games).
We hope that our competitions will contribute to:
- The peace in the world;
- The popularisation of the literature and the arts;
- Move closer to the artists of the world …

Climate adaptation may be a family affair.
A newfound ability of reef fish to adapt to shifting conditions over the course of two generations indicates they might be less vulnerable to climate change than previous research has suggested.
In a new study, young anemonefish (Amphiprion melanopus) exposed to elevated carbon dioxide levels and warmer water grew slowly, needed extra energy to perform normal bodily functions and died at higher rates. But they showed no adverse impacts if their parents had lived under the same conditions prior to breeding. Read more
Climate change may leave many mammals homeless
Some 9 percent of mammal species throughout the Western Hemisphere could, within roughly a century, become climate refugees with no suitable homes, a new study finds. In some areas conditions will be far worse, with 39 to 50 percent of mammals unable to emigrate fast enough to find suitable ecosystems.
“If species can’t migrate spontaneously, they’re going to go extinct. That’s the bottom line,” says Nina Hewitt of York University in Toronto, a biogeographer who was not involved in the new analyses. Read more
Blue-green algae release chemical suspected in some amphibian deformities
Harmless as they may look, some of the microbes called cyanobacteria have the power to dose waterways with a range of chemicals that might cause deformities in frogs or other vertebrate wildlife.
Cyanobacteria, also called blue-green algae, could be an underappreciated but widespread source of compounds called retinoic acids in waterways, says environmental toxicologist Jianying Hu of Peking University. Out of 24 kinds of cyanobacteria grown in a lab, 13 produced some kind of retinoic acid or retinoic acid cousin, Hu and her colleagues report online May 29 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Three Mile Island Nuclear Accident Documentary Film
The Three Mile Island accident was a partial nuclear meltdown which occurred at the Three Mile Island power plant in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States on March 28, 1979. It was the worst accident in U.S. commercial nuclear power plant history, and resulted in the release of small amounts of radioactive gases and radioactive iodine into the environment.
The power plant was owned and operated by General Public Utilities and Metropolitan Edison (Met Ed). The reactor involved in the accident, Unit 2, was a pressurized water reactor manufactured by Babcock & Wilcox
